Ukrainian Relief Committee in Great Britain [Український Допомоговий Комітет у Великій Британії] – a body established in Manchester following the end of the Second World War to provide assistance to Ukrainian displaced persons and refugees in postwar Europe.
The Committee was formed on 19 July 1945 by members of the Manchester Ukrainian community (see “First wave”), with the support of Ukrainians in the Canadian armed forces who were in the process of establishing the Central Ukrainian Relief Bureau in London. In October 1948 the Committee was wound up and its activities were taken over by the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain.
The initial members of the executive were Gregory Tarnawsky (chairman), Michael Kalyniuk-Cannon (secretary), Wolodymyr Czuczman (treasurer), Joseph Lesniowsky and O. Nykoriuk. Joseph Lesniowsky later became chairman.
